How to make Stained Glass Biscuits

You will need:

225g Plain Flour

75g Caster Sugar

150g Butter

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

100g Boiled Sweets

Method:

  1. Firstly, in a bowl, to your flour add your sugar and mix well.

  2. Then add the butter and with your fingertips mix until it resembles breadcrumbs.

  3. Then add your vanilla and again mix really well. Your mixture should start coming together to form a dough. If needed, add a drop of water until it becomes a dough.

  4. Then on a floured surface, roll out to about 1cm thick. Then using a 9cm cookie cutter cut out your biscuits.

  5. Then cut out the middles with a 5cm cookie cutter. Re-roll any remaining dough and repeat until you have used up the dough. It should make around 12 biscuits.

  6. An optional step is to poke a small hole in the top of each biscuit, this is so you can thread a ribbon through once baked so you can hang from your tree.

  7. Place your biscuits on a tray lined with baking paper, leaving space between each biscuit as they will expand and place an unwrapped boiled sweet in the middle of the biscuit hole.

  8. The in a pre-heated oven at Gas 4, 180C or 160 fan assisted bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until they are a light golden colour.

  9. If you added the small hole at step 6, thread a piece of ribbon through the hole and tie into a bow. You can then add these to your tree.
