How to make Spider Cookies

You will need:

For the cookies:

300g Plain flour

150g Margarine

150g Caster Sugar

100g Chocolate chips

1 Egg

1 Teaspoon Baking powder

Spider decorations:

100g Milk Chocolate

20 Maltesers/Rolos

Method:

  1. Firstly in a bowl, cream together your butter and sugar.

  2. Then add your egg and mix well.

  3. Then add half the flour and baking powder and mix. Then add your chocolate chips and mix until well distributed.

  4. Then add the remaining flour and mix until it is a dough.

  5. Then line a baking tray with baking paper. Roll about 1 heaped tablespoons worth of dough into a ball and put on the tray making sure to leave space in between each ball as they will expand as they bake.

  6. Then in a pre-heated oven at Gas Mark 5, 190C or 170C fan assisted bake for 12 to 15 mins.

  7. While still warm use a teaspoon to press into the tops of each cookie to leave a dent, this will make it easier to make the spider decorations. Then allow to cool.

  8. Melt your milk chocolate in a microwavable bowl in the microwave for 20 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until it is melted.

  9. Then spoon a little chocolate into the dent on the top of the cookie, and drizzle chocolate outwards from the dent to create the spiders legs, 4 on either side.

  10. Then pop a Rolo or Malteser on the melted chocolate on top to create the body. Pop in the fridge for 10 mins to allow the chocolate to set.
