You will need:
150g Plain flour
250ml warm water
0.5 tbsp dried yeast
0.5 tsp salt
0.5 tsp Sugar
0.5 tbsp Baking powder
2 tbsp Sunflower Oil
Crumpet rings (I used metal cookie cutters)
Method:
1. Firstly in a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder until combined.
2. Then add your yeast and stir.
3. Then add the warm water in and mix until it forms a batter. You want the water to be about body temperature.
4. Cover the bowl with clingfilm and leave for 30 mins.
5. Then mix the batter to get rid of any big bubbles.
6. Grease the rings with the oil and put in a frying pan over a low heat.
7. Add a bit more oil to the frying pan then pour batter into each of the rings.
8. Cook over a low heat for 4 to 5 mins until the crumpets are cooked on the outside. Flip the crumpets for 1 min to cook the remaining batter on the top.
9. You can eat straight away or if re-heating pop in the toaster.
