How to make Blueberry and Raspberry Jam

You will need:

450g Raspberries

250g Blueberries

550g Granulated Sugar

2tbsp Lemon Juice

200ml Water

Method:

  1. First, place a couple of small plates in the fridge. These will be used to test the jam's set.

  2. In a large saucepan, combine your fruit, water, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for 5 to 10 minutes to release the juices.

  3. Next, add the sugar and stir thoroughly. Let it reach a rolling boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 7 to 10 minutes.

  4. When you think the jam is ready, remove it from the heat for testing. To test, place a small drop of jam on your chilled plate and let it cool. If pushing your finger through it creates a wrinkle, the jam is ready. Alternatively, put a little jam onto a wooden spoon and let it cool. If it drops back into the saucepan in one piece, it is ready.

  5. Simply transfer the jam into clean, sterilized jars and let it cool. To sterilize the jars, pour boiling water into them, swirl it around, and then empty them. If you seal the jars while the jam is hot, it will create an airtight seal. The jam should last for 6 months, and once opened, keep it refrigerated and use within a week.
