How to make Christmas Tree Biscuits

You will need:

For the biscuits:

275g Plain Flour

100g Butter

100g Caster Sugar

1 egg

1 tsp Vanilla Extract


For the Icing:

200g Icing Sugar

2-3 drops of green food colouring

3 - 4 tbsp milk


To decorate:

Sprinkles/ edible stars/ mini chocolate beans


Makes approx. 30-34 biscuits.


Method:

  1. Firstly in a bowl, to your flour add the sugar and mix well.

  2. Then add the butter and with the tips of your fingers mix until it resembles breadcrumbs.

  3. Then, add your egg and vanilla extract and mix together until a dough is formed.

  4. Then roll your dough until it is about 1cm thick and cut out your biscuits using a tree shaped cookie cutter

  5. Place on a pre-lined baking tray, then bake in a pre-heated oven at Gas Mark 4, 180C or 160C fan assisted for 12-15 mins or until the edges are just starting to get colour.

  6. Once the biscuits are cooled, in a separate bowl to the icing sugar add 2 to 3 drops of green food colouring and a little bit of the milk. Mix well and add more of the milk a bit at a time until you have a thick paste.

  7. Then spread the green icing on top of the biscuits topping with the sprinkles and stars while the icing is still wet. Then leave to let the icing set.
