How to make Currant Whirls

You will need:

320g Puff Pastry

100g Currants

50g Sugar

1 Egg (Beaten)


Method:

1. On a floured surface, roll out your puff pastry until its about half a centimetre thick and a rectangle.

2. Brush the top of the pastry with the beaten egg and sprinkle with the currants and sugar, leaving a little sugar for sprinkling later.

3. Roll lengthways into a log and using the beaten egg brush the end to seal it

4. The cut into slices about 4 cm thick.

5. Put on a pre-lined baking tray with the swirls facing upwards.

6. Then brush the tops with the remaining egg and sprinkle with the reserved sugar

7. Bake in a pre-heated oven; at Gas Mark 6, 200 C or 170 C fan assisted for 15 to 20 mins
