How to make a small Apple Pie

You will need:

Filling:

150g Chopped Apple

35g Caster Sugar

Half Tsp Cinnamon

Half Tsp Cornflour

Pastry:

100g Plain Flour

Half Tbsp Caster Sugar

65g Butter

1 Egg Yolk

Method:

1. Firstly, for the filling, in a saucepan on a low heat, add your apples and cornflour, the soften your apples.

2. Then add your cinnamon and sugar and mix well. Then put this to one side while we make the pastry

3. In a bowl mix together your flour and sugar. The add your butter and mix in with the tips of your fingers until it resembles breadcrumbs.

4. The add the egg yolk and mix together, add a half a teaspoon of water as required until it comes together.

5. Then roll out a 3rd of your pastry on a lightly floured surface. I used a 5 inch pie/tart tin which I have floured to prevent sticking (but you can use butter), then line your tin with teh pastry cutting off any excess.

6. Then fill the case with the apple filling.

7. The roll out the remaining pastry and top the pie with it pressing down to seal with the pastry bottom. Cut off any excess and put a hole in the middle of the pie for the steam to escape.

8. Then bake in a pre-heated oven at Gas Mark 5, 190C or 170C fan assisted for 30-35 mins.
