You will need:

For the Cake:

200g Self-raising flour

125g Margarine/butter

150g Caster Sugar

2 eggs

50g Cocoa Powder

2tbsp Custard Powder

100ml Milk

Frosting:

250g Butter

400g Condensed Milk

100g Chocolate

Sprinkles

Method:

  1. Firstly, for the cake, cream together the butter and sugar in a bowl until well combined.

  2. Then add the eggs and milk, then mix well.

  3. Then add the self-raising flour, custard powder and cocoa powder, and mix until well combined.

  4. Put the cake mixture into a pre-prepared 7 inch (18cm) cake tin.

  5. Then bake in a pre-heated oven at Gas Mark 4, 180C or 160C fan assisted for about 1 hour or until a skewer comes out clean.

  6. Then to make the frosting, add the butter into a bowl and using an electric whisk, whisk for about 5 mins until light and fluffy.

  7. Then add the condensed milk little by little whisking into the butter after each addition.

  8. Once the condensed milk is all added, whisk until the mixture thickens up a bit.

  9. Then chop up the chocolate and melt. I use a microwave by putting it in for 20 seconds then mixing before repeating until melted.

  10. Then add the chocolate to the frosting and mix with the whisk again until well incorporated and thickened up.

  11. Then assemble the cake. Cut the cake in half and add a layer of frosting. Then sandwich the cake together and add the layer of frosting to the cake, sprinkling with sprinkles at the end.
