You will need:
225g Plain Flour
100g Cheddar Cheese (Grated)
150g Butter (Cubed)
1 Egg (Beaten)
2tbsp Water
1tsp Paprika
Method:
Combine the flour with the paprika and stir together.
Incorporate the butter using your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Mix in most of the cheese, reserving some to sprinkle on top later.
Gradually add water, mixing until a dough forms.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1cm thickness.
Cut into strips and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Brush the cheese straws with egg wash and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
Bake in a pre-heated oven at Gas Mark 5, 190°C, or 170°C fan-assisted for 10 to 15 minutes.
