You will need:
500g Diced Beef
400ml Ale
300ml Stock (Beef or Chicken)
2 Carrots (diced)
1 Onion (diced)
3 Garlic Cloves (diced)
2 tbsp Tomato Puree
2 tbsp Worcester Sauce
2 tbsp Oil
4 tbsp Plain flour
2 tsp Thyme
2 Bay Leaves
Method:
In a large frying pan over low heat, cook the beef until it is browned.
Add the flour and stir until the beef is thoroughly coated. Then, remove from heat and transfer to the slow cooker.
In the frying pan, add a small amount of liquid to deglaze, capturing the juices and remaining flour. Transfer this to the slow cooker.
Add the remaining ingredients to the slow cooker and mix well.
Cook in the slow cooker for 4 hours on high or 6 hours on low.
For a thicker sauce, add 2 tablespoons of cornflour mixed with water 30 minutes before the end of cooking, and stir well.
